Having wounded a deer during a hunting foray on his property, a pilot decided to look for the animal from the air.

Despite adverse weather conditions the weather station thirty miles away reported heavy rain showers and mist and an overcast cloudbase of 300 feet agl the hunter pilot embarked on a low level search flight with his Cessna 172's flaps set at ten degrees. The aircraft struck two oak trees whilst manoeuvring, leaving the pilot with minor injuries.
