The Airspace & Safety Initiative has published Olympic military intercept procedures for gliders.

The Airspace & Safety Initiative has published Olympic military intercept procedures for gliders.

A Restricted Zone R112 and Prohibited Zone P111 will be in place around London and the Olympic venues throughout the Games (14 July to 15 August).

Gliders will be forbidden to fly into the Prohibited Zone and are only permitted to enter the Restricted Zone if they comply with Regulations.

As the Ministry of Defence will be monitoring and enforcing the restrictions, aircraft that enter Restricted Airspace without permission or deviate from a route agreed with Air Traffic Control are likely to be intercepted by military aircraft.
