Kemble steps into the breach as UKs biggest vintage event to be resurrected in 2009
AFTER the disappointing news in February that the Great Vintage Flying
Weekend was being reluctantly cancelled after 11 years, it has been
announced that the event will be resurrected next year at Kemble.
Kemble Air Services now own the G-VFWE brand although the previous
organisers will continue to be instrumental in the organisation of the
fly-in.Terry
Booker, who has run the event since it started at Shoreham in 1996,
told pilotweb, “It’s official. I’m delighted that it’s signed, sealed
and delivered. The event will be held at Kemble next year.
“I could only mothball it for so long. Kemble is a nice big airfield
and it’s not the first time G-VFWE has been there,” he added. An official statement is due to be released immediately. www.gvfwe.co.uk
