JONES NAILS IT IN BUDAPEST

Second place for Steve Jones in Red Bull Air Race

BRITISH pilot Steve Jones has taken silver in the Budapest round of the Red Bull Air Race today. It is the second podium finish for the Gloucestershire pilot in the 2008 World Series.Defeating Matador display team partner Paul Bonhomme in an all-British semi final, Jones posted a time of 1:06:36 while previous championship leader Bonhomme incurred a three-second penalty for incorrect knife flying. Austrian pilot Hannes Arch came first while Paul Bonhomme had to settle for third place. The result means the pair are now neck and neck with 45 championship points.2007 Series winner Mike Mangold narrowly missed a spot on the podium taking fourth place. Fellow Brit Nigel Lamb – who celebrated his birthday during training in Budapest – finished in sixth place with four championship points. Meanwhile Kirby Chambliss, who took first place in London, blew it in Qualifying and finished in tenth place. www.redbullairrace.com
