A father and son team won the Rolls Royce Merlin and Airborne trophies at Enniskillen’s air race.
Dan Pangbourne and his navigator father David Pangbourne won the races on both 6 and 7 July, flying their Grumman AA5 Race 8.
The air race was the first to be hosted by Enniskillen Airport in Northern Ireland. With perfect summer weather and a field of eleven competitors ranging from a 1959 Piper Clipper to the RV7’s the race weekend was a great success.
The Royal Aero Club Records Racing & Rally Association organise seven race weekends a year, to which all pilots are welcome.
The 100th Anniversary Schneider Air Race is being held in Alderney on 28 and 29 September this year, but the next race takes place in Shobdon on 17 and 18 August. New race pilots and spectators are all welcome.
