Rufforth East’s fly-in will be making a welcome return on 22 June.

David Sykes – a disabled pilot who flew solo from Rufforth East to Sydney, Australia by weight-shift microlight last year – will be talking about his experiences and signing copies of his book.

The Gyrocopter Experience is planning to allow visitors to view its museum and will be giving talks on flying gyrocopters at the event.

Pilots will be able to enjoy food from a BBQ and the delights of a wider choice from Choc’s Away – the successful café located on the airfield.

For those who need fuel to get home, club members will be on stand-by to lend cans and ferry pilots to the local petrol station.

Rufforth East airfield is home to the York Flying Club and is situated on the eastern side of an old WWII bomber base. Because the western side of the same airfield has a very active gliding operation - York Gliding Centre - air space is carefully organised to avoid conflict and a verbal briefing is essential on 07595219309, 07801631431, 07939240797, 07947128857 or 07710031249. All types of aircraft are welcome to the fly-in.
