Take Flight Aviation, based at Wellesbourne, is celebrating ten years in business and the official opening of its new London Oxford site.

To celebrate, they are offering weekday use of two aircraft at 2006 prices during August: a Cessna 152 at £89 for PPL holders in Wellesbourne and a PA-28 at Oxford for £99 including fuel and landing fees.

Although aviation can be a difficult business, Take Flight is expanding and hopes to enrol its 125th member shortly. With fifteen aircraft available for training or self-fly hire, it offers members the chance to take aircraft away for up to a week and only pay for the hours they fly. Members pay a monthly subscription of £40 which also entitles them to competitive aircraft hire rates.

The company’s latest venture has been to purchase a Malibu Matrix and offer five user shares (three are already sold). The users pay a capital share and an annual hours package at a fixed cost with nothing else to pay except fuel. Says Take Flight’s Managing Director, Mike Roberts, “We wanted to operate more expensive aircraft that would simply not be practical or cost effective to offer on an hourly hire basis.”

Take Flight has been an active campaigner in the fight against housing development on Wellesbourne Mountford airfield, which has now been reprieved until 2031 at least.
