Panshanger due to close
We are sad to announce that Panshanger Aerodrome - situated near Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire - will close down towards the end of September.
The closure of the aerodrome - home to the North London Flying School - has come about because the licence agreement with the landowner, Mariposa Investments Ltd, is due to expire on 21 September 2014.
Originally known as Holwell Hyde, the airfield was used during the Second World War as a decoy site for the De Havilland factory at Hatfield.
The aerodrome’s Young Aviators Day (1 August), Panshanger Revival Day (10 August) and Aerobatic Day (14 September) will still be going ahead. Meanwhile students are being asked to discuss the continuation of their studies with their instructor, and voucher holders are urged to contact the flying school to book a date. The management of the aerodrome has expressed its gratitude to the landlords, Mariposa Investments Ltd, for having the use of the aerodrome for just over twenty years.
Panshanger will be officially closing on Saturday 20 September with limited flight operations in the final week from 14 September.
