Rotax celebrates its 25th anniversary

Around 160 participants from twenty countries and four continents came together during 5-7 June for the 2014 Rotax Fly-In and Spyder Grossglockner Challenge.

The fly-in – which celebrated the 25th anniversary of the engine manufacturer – took place at Weisse Moewe Wels airfield in Austria. Participants flew in from Great Britain, Germany and Austria, while some came from as far as Taiwan, Brazil and South Africa.

Meanwhile, than 200 Can-Am Spyder riders from countries including Russia, Ukraine, France, Slovenia, Germany and Austria participated in the Spyder Grossglockner Challenge. The Challenge is all about the ultimate ride on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road; one of the most scenic roads in the world.

Participants of both events gathered at the airfield on June 6. Special awards were given to the youngest and ‘most vintage’ pilot, the person with the most flight hours, as well as the one with the longest journey to the event. Visitors enjoyed test flights with light and ultra-light aircraft powered by the Rotax 912 iSSport engine, and were given a tour of the company.
